Zagat: Tapas Bar Opens in Barroom of Chelsea’s La Sirena


“New year, new meta restaurant concept. La Sirena at the Maritime Hotel, from powerhouse duo Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, is repurposing its elegant barroom into Tapas Bar, with food by Casa Monoveteran chef Anthony Sasso. Unlike the offerings at La Sirena, the menu at Tapas Bar will not be Italian (as you might have already gathered) but instead will focus on Spanish small plates like paella croquettes (pictured below), patatas bravas with miso mayo, sea urchin, chipotle estrattu and sundried tomato salt; the Not Babbo’s Chickpeas, Cabrón! — peasant toast, rosemary, avocado, tapenade and vin coto (pictured at top) as well as playful desserts like a foie gras sundae with bananas borrachas (drunk bananas), Nutella, tostada, negroni syrup and a morena cherry on top.”
